Richard Evan Schwartz (born August 11, 1966) is an American mathematician notable for his contributions to geometric group theory and to an area of mathematics known as billiards. Geometric group theory is a relatively new area of mathematics beginning around the late 1980s which explores finitely generated groups, and seeks connections between their algebraic properties and the geometric spaces on which these groups act. He has worked on what mathematicians refer to as billiards, which are dynamical systems based on a convex shape in a plane. He has explored geometric iterations involving polygons, and he has been credited for developing the mathematical concept known as the pentagram map. In addition, he is a bestselling author of a mathematics picture book for young children. His published work usually appears under the name Richard Evan Schwartz. In 2011 he is a professor of mathematics at Brown University.
Schwartz was born in Los Angeles on August 11, 1966. In his youth he played tennis and enjoyed video games. He attended John F. Kennedy High School in Los Angeles from 1981 to 1984, then earned a B. S. in mathematics from U.C.L.A. in 1987, and then a Ph. D. in mathematics from Princeton University in 1991 under the supervision of William Thurston. He taught at the University of Maryland. He is currently the Chancellor's Professor of Mathematics at Brown University. He lives with his wife and two daughters in Barrington, Rhode Island.
A traffic collision, also known as a motor vehicle collision (MVC), traffic accident, motor vehicle accident, car accident, automobile accident, road traffic collision, road traffic accident, wreck, car crash, or car smash occurs when a vehicle collides with another vehicle, pedestrian, animal, road debris, or other stationary obstruction, such as a tree or utility pole. Traffic collisions may result in injury, death and property damage.
A number of factors contribute to the risk of collision, including vehicle design, speed of operation, road design, road environment, and driver skill, impairment due to alcohol or drugs, and behavior, notably speeding and street racing. Worldwide, motor vehicle collisions lead to death and disability as well as financial costs to both society and the individuals involved.
Road injuries resulted in 1.4 million deaths in 2013, up from 1.1 million deaths in 1990. About 68,000 of these occurred in children less than five years old. Almost all high-income countries have decreasing death rates, while the majority of low-income countries having increasing death rates due to traffic collisions. Middle-income countries have the highest rate with 20 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, 80% of all road fatalities by only 52% of all vehicles. While the death rate in Africa is the highest (24.1 per 100,000 inhabitants), the lowest rate is to be found in Europe (10.3).
Mississippi i/ˌmɪsᵻˈsɪpi/ is a state located in the southern region of the United States.
Jackson is the state capital and largest city, with a population of around 175,000 people. The state overall has a population of around 3 million people. Mississippi is the 32nd most extensive and the 32nd most populous of the 50 United States.
The state is heavily forested outside of the Mississippi Delta area. Its riverfront areas were cleared for slave-cultivated cotton production before the American Civil War, but after the war, the bottomlands were cleared mostly by freedmen. African Americans made up two-thirds of the property owners in the Delta by the end of the 19th century, but timber and railroad companies acquired much of the land. Clearing altered the ecology of the Delta, increasing the severity of flooding along the Mississippi. Much land is now held by agribusinesses. A largely rural state with agricultural areas dominated by industrial farms, Mississippi is ranked low or last among the states in such measures as health, educational attainment, and median household income. The state's catfish aquaculture farms produce the majority of farm-raised catfish consumed in the United States.
A personal injury lawyer is a lawyer who provides legal representation to those who claim to have been injured, physically or psychologically, as a result of the negligence or wrongdoing of another person, company, government agency, or other entity. Thus, personal injury lawyers tend to be especially knowledgeable and have more experience with regard to the area of law known as tort law, which includes civil wrongs and economic or non-economic damages to a person’s property, reputation, or rights.
Even though personal injury lawyers are trained and licensed to practice virtually any field of law, they generally only handle cases that fall under tort law including, but not limited to: work injuries, automobile and other accidents, defective products, medical mistakes, slip and fall accidents, and more.
The expression "trial lawyers" can refer to personal injury lawyers, even though most cases handled by personal injury lawyers settle rather than going to trial and other types of lawyers, such as defendants' lawyers and criminal prosecutors, also appear in trials.
The Young Turks (TYT) is an online American liberal/progressive political and social commentary program hosted by Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian; the show has an associated network of online shows and is owned by a company of the same name (The Young Turks LLC). TYT was founded in 2002 by Uygur as a talkshow on Sirius Satellite Radio.
The Young Turks claims to be "the world's largest online news show"; YouTube video views for the TYT Network stood at a total of 2 billion as of July 2014. The show offers internet-only video content via their YouTube channel, which in April 2012 averaged 750,000 views a day, and by November 2014 over 1,400,000 views a day. The Young Turks also have a network of other affiliated shows on separate YouTube channels, known collectively as the TYT Network.
From 2011 to 2013 a second show, called The Young Turks with Cenk Uygur aired on Current TV. After Current TV was acquired by Al Jazeera America, the TV show was discontinued.
The Young Turks as a show began when Cenk Uygur started a talk show similar to a public-access television cable-TV show he had done previously called The Young Turk. With the help of friend Ben Mankiewicz (with whom he had previously worked), his childhood friend Dave Koller, and Jill Pike, he began The Young Turks as a radio show in 2002 on Sirius Satellite Radio. The show's name derives from the English-language phrase "Young Turk", meaning a reformist or rebellious member of an institution, movement, or political party.

Payday lending establishments in Mississippi charge a 572% interest rate for very short-term loans to low income people to help them cover their basic expenses until their next paycheck. This has the effect of sucking large amounts of income away from people and communities who are already desperately poor. We produced this video for the Mississippi Center for Justice to help them show the Jackson City Counsel, Mississippi Legislature, and the general public, the impact of payday lending on their state and, most importantly, to demonstrate some positive alternatives.

From: http://www.cnn.com/ January 02, 2016 - (CNN) A city councilman fed up with police from other counties racing after small-time crooks in his Jackson, Mississippi, neighborhood has called for residents to throw things at officers in pursuit. Now, the governor and a county sheriff are threatening to have prosecutors investigate him over the suggestion. Councilman Kenneth Stokes has a reputation of saying what he thinks and stirring controversy. "Let's get rocks; let's get bricks, and let's get bottles," Stokes told CNN affiliate WJTV. "And we'll start throwing them, and then they won't come in here anymore." It was no one-off quip. Stokes repeated the suggestion to other local news outlets. President Donald Trump's attorney announced that a veteran Washington husband-and-wife legal duo will not join Trump's team handling the Russia probe. "The President is disappointed that conflicts prevent Joe diGenova and Victoria Toensing from joining the President's Special Counsel legal team," his lawyer, Jay Sekulow, said in a statement. "However, those conflicts do not prevent them from assisting the President in other legal matters. The President looks forward to working with them." Sekulow had announced that diGenova, a former US attorney for the District of Columbia, would be joining the team, and sources told CNN that he and Toensing met with Trump. One source said the President liked the pair's message, but was not convinced they were right for the legal jobs.

He is coauthor, with Michael Nichols, of Family Therapy: Concepts and Methods, the most widely used family therapy text in the United States. “Working with Different Parts of Ourselves” is a keynote from Dick Schwartz recorded June 2017 at the Annual Gathering of the Next Practice Institute sponsored by Mobius Executive Leadership. In this talk, Dick introduces the key ideas behind the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model he created over twenty years ago. IFS gave us a radical new way to understand “the self,” shedding light on the way different parts of ourselves serve different functions. Seemingly illogical behavior can be explained once we understand the role of the inner critic or our “firefighters” and “exiles.” It’s time to take IFS out of the therapy office and into corporate culture. For more about Next Practice Institute (NPI) visit www.mobiusleadership.com . NPI has been established to codify the disciplines of transfo...
Have you ever heard yourself saying “There’s a part of me that feels one way, and another part of me that feels another?” - or have you ever wondered why you might do things that seem counterproductive to what your actual intentions are? Do you have a mindfulness practice, and wonder how you can get more out of it - is it not quite transforming your life the way you thought it would? Or here’s another question: when you take a moment to get to the heart of what you want, or “need” - how do you know if it’s something healthy, or just a way of perpetuating something within you that really ought to be something that you heal and move past? Today’s guest is going to help you answer those questions. And if you’re inclined to do the healing ...
Liz Brenner, LICSW, talks with Dick Schwartz, Phd, about how he developed the IFS model. Dick starts the conversation talking about his own family context, some of his early work experiences and then his days as a family therapist. He reviews some of the critical ideas from family systems therapy that supported his developing ways to work with the internal system. Dick defines Self and Parts. This interview occurred a few weeks after the Center for Self Leadership's Annual Conference celebrating thirty years since Dick first began to conceptualize IFS.

In this video from his 2017 presentation in Toronto Dick Schwartz describes his journey from Family Systems to internal work. He describes how protective parts get into extreme roles, defines burdens and how unburdening transforms the system, describes legacy burdens & how they get taken on, critiques attachment theory, explains why therapists are not necessary as attachment figures for clients and talks about how Self is comparable to the “Good Parent”. He also critiques traditional EMDR from an IFS perspective and discusses the roles parts typically take after unburdening and how burdens differ from vulnerability. He talks about how his discovery of the Self challenged his scientific aetheistic worldview and led to the incorporation of the Spiritual dimension of the model. He clarifies h...

Lost in the System - Fault Lines Speedy justice and the right-to-counsel are the backbone of the US criminal justice system. But a majority of the men and women locked up in America's 3,000 jails are there before even having a trial. Many are locked up only because they are too poor to afford bail. They are legally innocent, but find themselves waiting for their day in court behind bars. In the meantime, they are separated from their families, may lose their jobs or their homes, experience the trauma of incarceration, incur debts, and may plead guilty - even when innocent - just to get out of jail. With nearly 12 million jail admissions a year, courts are backlogged and public defender systems across the country are overloaded. Fault Lines travels to New York, Mississippi and Californ...

Facts: Dollar General Corporation (Dollar General) operates a store on land held in trust for the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians (Tribe). The store operates pursuant to a lease and business license agreement with the Tribe.
